Though Report Builder 2.0 does not make it possible to create reports relying on Enesys RS Data Extension from scratch, you can take advantage of its features for designing an existing report (relying on Enesys RS Data Extension) located on a report server.

Introduction Enesys RS Data Extension makes it possible to retrieve and aggregate data from SharePoint lists using a specific query language based on XML. To explain the approach used in ERSDE Query language, we will use a sample query that joins two SharePoint lists (Orders and Customers) based on their CustomerID column in order to get Customer's name and company in the resulting data: Sample SharePoint lists:

Report Builder 2.0 RC1 has been released by Microsoft. In regards to Enesys RS Data Extension, it is important to note that this version only supports Custom Data Extension in server mode. This is further explained by "Teo Lachev" in the following blog article: Extending Report Builder 2.0. Concretely, this means that it is not possible to use Report Builder 2.0 RC1 to build a report based on Enesys RS Data Extension from scratch. However, it is possible to open an existing report directly on the server, modify or build the layout, run the report and, in the end, save the modifications. We have prepared a simple video where Report Builder is used to modify an existing "ERSDE" report located on a SSRS 2008 server: The product look ...

In January, we have started the development of a Query builder for Enesys RS Data Extension. We thought it would be a good idea to keep you informed on the advancement of this project though it is only in pre-beta 1 phase.
The objective of the query builder is to help construct queries that can be used with Enesys RS Data Extension.
As an added bonus, it can help you as well if you are involved in SharePoint projects for which you need to construct CAML Queries.
I’ll give more details about the Query builder in coming articles but for now we have recorded a small demo that will give you an overall idea of the product: Query Builder flash demo.

If you are developping SharePoint web parts and need nested resources subfolders, you should be aware of a bug in stsadm.exe command line tool.
You will most likely encounter this problem if you are using some third party components for which you may not decide how resources should be organized. If you are developping every feature of your web part from the ground up, you should limit yourself to using only one level resources subfolder.
So what is exactly the problem? Let's say a web part has the following resources directory structure :
Note that it's not possible to use Visual Studio cab projects for building cabs with internal folders. As an alternative you can use makecab.ex ...
