Sure it is compatible with BIDS 2008.
My assumption is that it has been installed afterwards and is therefore not configured with Enesys RS Data Extension.
The easiest approach would be to uninstall and reinstall the product (It will not hurt anything – have however your license key with you). At installation, it will propose to install for both BIDS 2005 & 2008 if they are both installed on the machine.
It should then be available in the list when creating a data source.
The process for updating BIDS installation will be much smoother in the coming 3.1 version thanks to the addition of a client configuration tool.
