Report Builder 2.0 RC1

Report Builder 2.0 RC1 has been released by Microsoft. In regards to Enesys RS Data Extension, it is important to note that this version only supports Custom Data Extension in server mode. This is further explained by "Teo Lachev" in the following blog article: Extending Report Builder 2.0.

Concretely, this means that it is not possible to use Report Builder 2.0 RC1 to build a report based on Enesys RS Data Extension from scratch. However, it is possible to open an existing report directly on the server, modify or build the layout, run the report and, in the end, save the modifications.

We have prepared a simple video where Report Builder is used to modify an existing "ERSDE" report located on a SSRS 2008 server:

Report Builder Demonstration

The product looks promising and the ability to modify and run reports directly from the server is an interesting alternative to Business Intelligence Development Studio.
